A 27-year-old New York man was killed Friday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 95 near Port St. John, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The man, one of three from Port Chester involved in the accident, was a passenger in an unspecified sedan that veered off the road at about 3 p.m. Friday and flipped over after hitting a guardrail, FHP said. The 25-year-old driver lost control of the car for unknown reasons, troopers said
The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, which took place in the northbound lanes.
Another passenger in the car, a 21-year-old, suffered serious injuries, FHP said. None of the three occupants was identified as of Friday.
The 27-year-old was taken to Rockledge Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
